Fourth album of trad-country from the Oregon-raised singer-songwriter leaves you in little doubt as to her influences: its opening track is called ‘Let’s Make This House A Honkytonk’. Drawing on a childhood spent listening to her father’s record collection, you can trace the lineage with ease. The influence of Hank and Loretta on Harrington’s songbook is unmistakeable.

She might be a young veteran of the country scene but this is her first album with her new all-female backing band, an outfit that came together last year backstage at a Patsy Cline tribute. There’s nothing particularly startling here. The playing is accomplished, there’s just enough spit and polish to keep things rootsy rather than polished and Harrington is a convincing storyteller. If you like your cowgals straight outta Nashville, in preference, say, to the genre-twisting approach of new lights like Lindi Ortega or older hands such as Tift Merrit, this is worth looking up.
