Dispatch - Circles Around The Sun

Boston trio Dispatch have been called "the biggest band nobody's heard of." Not very auspicious. Yet this nifty new album Circles Around The Sun just may help. The stupendous opening title track, with its cool REM Fables Of The Reconstruction vibe, sets the bar high. 'Get Ready Boy' is gorgeous, and the slow dancing 'Josephine' is a lovely nod to The Band.

The rest of the album doesn't disappoint. The songs have a peaceful, easy feeling that gels perfectly with the trio's lovely harmonising voices, while guitars, mandolins and banjos lap behind them like trickling water, such as the Fleet Foxes-esque 'Flag'. This beautiful collection of songs merits Dispatch getting their name in print a bit more often. Smart, wonderfully crafted tunes that are sure to put a smile on your face.

About Olivia Schaff
I have been writing for The Music Fix for over two years and if anything I am more of a music junkie than ever before. I am not happy unless I’m waiting in line for a gig. Be it a rock band or a folk band, you will always find me at the barrier. My home is Manchester and wherever my favourite band are playing.
