Green Day - Shepherd's Bush Empire, London
23 August 2012
Fans of US punk pop superstars Green Day are counting the days till the release of the group's latest album Uno, the first of a trilogy of albums released by the band in the space of a four-month period. The band are gearing up for its unveiling with a series of low key shows around the world, flying to the UK to perform a "secret" set at this year's Reading Festival, where they'll play their seminal album Dookie in full. The band also unveiled a very low key gig at London's Shepherd's Bush Empire to an unsuspecting public, with only a couple of days notice, resulting in a frenzied dash for tickets, with the show selling out in mere seconds.
SBE is a very intimate venue for a band of Green Day's stature and excitable fans were lining up around the block to see their idols up close, including a few front row candidates who had been waiting in line for almost a day! I'm sure they wouldn't have been disappointed as the band's set offered up classics alongside newer material, leaving them with a night I'm sure they'll remember for a very long time. I had a lot of fun shooting them anyway!
