Tame Impala - Lonerism

Australian space cowboys Tame Impala return with their second full-length record, Lonerism, and it's a real winner, full of widescreen, dreamy psycho-indie tunes that set the controls for the heart of sun and doesn't get distracted by the pretty colours. The electro beats of 'Be Above It' start things off and right away we notice the layers of synths added to the mix of drums, bass and guitar, weaving their way in and out of the songs and adding to the expansive feel of the album without weighing them down in unnecessary fluff. 'Music to Walk Home By' and 'Why Won't They Talk To Me' are fun psychedelic pop tunes, while 'Mind Mischief' and 'Elephant' prove that the band have not lost any of their rock n' roll might.

The band may have crept onto the music scene with Innerspeaker but this fine collection proves Tame Impala are indeed ready to play out with the big kids.

About Olivia Schaff
I have been writing for The Music Fix for over two years and if anything I am more of a music junkie than ever before. I am not happy unless I’m waiting in line for a gig. Be it a rock band or a folk band, you will always find me at the barrier. My home is Manchester and wherever my favourite band are playing.
