Friendly Fires - Late Night Tales

Late Night Tales celebrates its thirtieth birthday. Essentially a mixtape amassed by various artists through the ages - this one has been complied by disco kings Friendly Fires and as mixtapes go, it's alright.

Not particularly inventive or original, Late Night Tales: Friendly Fires is entertaining enough. There are tracks as diverse as Cocteau Twins' 'Cherry Coloured Funk' and a lovely instrumental 'Over There, It's Raining' by Nils Frahm. Interspersed with this are oddities like a remastered version of Olivia Newton-John's rendition of Elton John's 'Love Song' and a cool sounding remix of 'Why Don't You Answer?' by our hosts, as well as the DJ'd-up club hits like Joe Simon's 'Love Vibration' and 'Endless Shore' by Melody's Echo Chamber. Tacked onto this is a rather nifty reading of 'Flat Of Angles' by Sherlock's Benedict Cumberbatch. A ready-made soundtrack for your next party that should satisfy even your most musically picky friends.
About Olivia Schaff
I have been writing for The Music Fix for over two years and if anything I am more of a music junkie than ever before. I am not happy unless I’m waiting in line for a gig. Be it a rock band or a folk band, you will always find me at the barrier. My home is Manchester and wherever my favourite band are playing.
