'Fire' is the new video from Charlotte Carpenter

About to embark upon a UK headline tour, rising songwriter and guitarist Charlotte Carpenter has revealed an explosive new video to match her forthcoming single, ‘Fire’, due December 2nd via Charlotte’s own imprint, Let It Go Records.

Speaking of the video’s inspiration Charlotte explains, "as a songwriter, I don't usually write optimistic songs and I wanted to find a way to juxtapose that in visual form. Joe Phipps, the director, suggested creating a dark visual, stripping the colour from the screen and together we started to think of ways we could re-create a shoddy execution, drawing references from some of our favourite directors like Kubrick and Tarantino. The video is intense; exploring the subject of vulnerability, by inhibiting me of physical control and escalating to a potentially fatal climax."

Following the How Are We Ever To Know EP, five beautifully reflective and intimate songs that saw Charlotte coming to terms with the demise of her first relationship, ‘Fire’ marks a new chapter, arriving liberated, soulful and explosive, poised to embrace the future. “It’s a song about taking risks, and feeling vulnerable in a positive way; as though it’s okay to be less in control,” Charlotte adds. “Shortly before I turned 25, I felt as though I was living a little differently to what I had in the past. I felt as though I was re-discovering myself as a woman; taking risks; being less careful and living with less concern. It’s a song about intimacy also, and feeling love and lust as a young woman and being liberated by that. Feeling heavily inspired by my femininity, I felt a passion and a hunger which had a big effect on my song writing and playing. Fire came about one afternoon, when I felt as though my life was about to take a very interesting turn, and it’s about embracing that feeling of change, and seeing where it can take you.”
