The Fix List: Khodara

image

In prep for the release of her new EP in March we asked soul-pop singer Khodara to put together a playlist of ten tracks. Any tracks. Any reason. And here they are. As usual the Spotify playlist is at the bottom. First though, let the New Yorker explain her playlist.

I know it seems cliche to say it, but there's never a moment when I'm not listening to music. It's meditative for me, a spiritual practice even. It doesn't matter if I'm listening to pop, blues, country, Top 40, or any genre really. Most people think with words, but I hear them, and feel every lick, lyric or hook, visceral and transformed. The very first time I heard Mariah Carey's 'Daydream' as a little girl, a whole new world of pursuit and possibilities opened up for me. Now, with every new song I hear and connect to, that world continues to expand and flow. What am I vibing to now?

Khalid - 'Location'

My type of chill out party song. You can listen to it regardless of your mood and instantly feel your inner swag.

Post Malone - 'Go Flex'

I can't stop listening to this song. Have you seen the video? Watch it. Post is all swag.

Britney Spears - 'Toxic'

Isn't this everyone's all-time favorite song?

- 'Kamizaze'

Love the ethnic vibes combined with pure solid pop goodness. Could listen to this one all day every day. MØ is happening in every way right now and I could take a few pages from her book. She's on fire!

LANY - 'ILYSB'

Love the beat and voice layering. Sounds like the future of music to me in a very simplistic way.

Royce Wood Junior - 'Clanky Love'

This is what a live band should sound like! Makes you want to dance in the funkiest way possible.

Disclosure - 'You & Me'

One of the best remixes around. Eliza really shows her vocal capabilities here.

Chris Stapleton - 'Tennessee Whiskey'

Probably my favorite all-time artist right now. He introduced me to country and blues back in 2008 when I saw him live in Nashville playing with his then band, 'the Steeldrivers'.

The Internet - 'Girl ft. KAYTRANADA'

Love this song and everything it stands for. Big things coming for The Internet. Love her <3

Mark Ronson - 'Bang Bang Bang'

Mark is my ultimate pop producer. Was hard to pick one of his jams, but I'm currently really feeling this one.
